Mexico runs out of Vitacillina, five pharmacies report it as “out of stock”, and Internet users claim shortage
For a few weeks, the shortage of Vitacilina in Mexico has been reported through social networks. Internet users have shared their cons their about the non-existence of this famous ointment in its different presentations.
Vitacilina is owned by Compañía Internacional de Comercio S.A.P.I. de C.V., which was founded in 1941 and has managed to position itself with national brands such as: Vitacilina, Vitacilina Baby, Derman and Rocainol.
It is worth mentioning that this company is essential in the history of the pharmaceutical industry in Mexico for what its products represent at a social and medical level.
Farmacias del Ahorro, Benavides, San Pablo, Guadalajara, and Multifarmacias reported that Vitacilina products were out of stock. When asked why the lack of supply was noticed, the answer was between two months and three weeks.
The National Association of Pharmacies of Mexico, A. C. (ANAFARMEX) declared that “the company that manufactures it has lowered production, but we do not know the reason” when questioned about the shortage of Vitacilina in its different presentations at the national level.
