INSABI and UNOPS start delivery of medicines and medical supplies in the second half of 2022

INSABI and UNOPS have maintained a continuous supply; More than one million medicines and medical supplies are delivered daily from 21 therapeutic groups to 10 institutions in the health sector in 30 states.

As part of its commitment to maintaining continuous supply, the Institute of Health for Wellbeing (INSABI) and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) began in July the delivery of more than 168 million medicines, medical supplies, and devices, corresponding to the keys required for UNOPS for the second half of 2022.

To have the continuous supply of 569 essential medicines and medical supplies in the second half of 2022, UNOPS contracted 130 companies from 6 countries: Mexico, Argentina, China, Cyprus, the United States, and India, which deliver to operators logistics designated by INSABI for distribution to institutions in the health sector in the Mexican Republic.

INSABI and UNOPS have maintained continuous supply during the first half of 2022 and so far in the year’s second period. More than a million medicines and medical supplies are delivered daily, from 21 therapeutic groups to 10 health sector institutions from 30 states, thanks to the results of the last tender carried out by UNOPS in which 90 percent was awarded of the keys requested by INSABI.

As of July 29, 2022, suppliers contracted by UNOPS delivered 606 million pieces of medicines, supplies, and medical devices to logistics operators designated by INSABI.

Likewise, UNOPS maintains spaces for dialogue with representatives of the leading associations and chambers of the pharmaceutical industry in Mexico to maintain the constant flow of contracted medicines and medical supplies.

Together with INSABI, UNOPS will continue to provide a level playing field and impartial processes for domestic and foreign competitors to increase competitiveness further and reduce market concentration, allowing suppliers to offer their quality products at better prices.

The major issues for the further development of the pharmaceutical market will be discussed at the Mexican Pharmaceutical Forum that will be organized by the Global Pharmaceutical Leaders’ Club on the 29-30th November 2022 in Mexico City.
