Pharmaceutical sector launches initiative #sigoconcubrebocas in cases of Covid
Given the increase in cases of Covid-19, which in recent days has exceeded 30,000 positive cases daily, the National Union of Pharmacy Entrepreneurs (UNEFARM) launched the #sigoconcubrebocas campaign.
The objective is to call on the population to maintain preventive measures that have proven effective in cutting the chain of contagion, said the president of UNEFARM, Juvenal Becerra Orozco.
The pharmaceutical leader pointed out that in recent weeks there has been a relaxation in compliance with sanitary measures by some groups of the population, especially in closed spaces and high concentrations. He explained “at the entrance there are people who meet the requirement to wear the mask, but already inside spaces such as public transport, shopping centers and some work spaces the input is removed.”
Given the increase in infections, Becerra Orozco reported that in the last two weeks there has been a 20% increase in the demand for supplies and medicines to attend to Covid.
Likewise, he pointed out that the demand for medical consultations in medical offices adjacent to pharmacies has increased, where the majority of patients who come for a check-up have symptoms of Covid.
Becerra Orozco explained that the supply of medicines in the country is guaranteed, although intermittent shortages of some medicines continue to be registered, derived from international supply conditions, since 55% of the inputs and active ingredients required by the national pharmaceutical industry come from other nations, in which case the flow of salts and raw materials is expected to normalize in the coming months.
The UNEFARM leader called on the population not to relax protection measures, such as the use of face masks in closed spaces, with little ventilation or high concentration of people, use of sanitary gel and frequent hand washing.
